Having failed to unload his struggling Haitian hotel abroad, a cynical businessman (Richard Burton) returned to the island in pursuit of his interests-including his affair with the Uruguayan ambassador's wife (Elizabeth Taylor). However, he docked just as Papa Doc Duvalier's regime hit it's brutal stride-with stunning consequences for everyone in his orbit.
