Albert Finney gives a captivating, beguiling performance (AllMovie) as a psychotic killer in the shock suspense thriller Night Must Fall, costarring Susan Hampshire and Mona Washbourne. a charismatic psychopath, Danny (Finney) worms his way into the home of Mrs. Bramson (Washbourne), a well-to-do widow confined to a wheelchair. Spending his time playing games with his host, he also charms and seduces his daughter (Susan Hampshire), an infatuated young woman who never suspects Danny is mad and their lives are in unspeakable danger. Based on the 1955 hit play by Emlyn Williams, Night Must Fall is the second of M-G-M's two screen adaptations. The 1937 original stars Robert Montgomery and Rosalind Russell with Dame May Whitty as Mrs. Bramson, the role she created on stage.
