Bernie Evers is a blue-collar guy who doesn't take it well when he finds out that his boy, Matty, is dressing up in girl's clothes. His troubles deepen when the news that his mother, Carla, doesn't have much time. As Matty reveals that he would rather be Maddie, Bernie and Carla must confront the difference between who they've always been, who they are, and who they want to be.
